Michelle's May Challenge

So last week I found this cool video of Janna Werner creating a page:

Instant inspiration, right?!

So my challenge to you this month is to watch the video and create a page inspired from it.  You can use some of her fabulous techniques: spreading gesso/acrylic paint onto your page, dripping ink, stamping, layering, embossing; or use some of the same supplies: fabric, notebook paper, thread, sequins, washi tape.

I pretty much copied her whole darn thing because I loved it so much!

Here's mine:

Hope you will play along.  Link up your inspired creation in the Linky over there by Wednesday, June 6th.

Wednesday Challenge

Welcome to another wednesday challenge. This is the last challenge of the month so link up your creations in the sidebar for a chance to win a prize.
Today we are doing an off the page challenge. Put those scrap supplies to good use and make a gift packaging container. I am forever buying gift bags when I could make a much cuter version with a little pre-planning.
CHALLENGE: Create a gift packaging item. This could be a gift bag, an altered box, or as easy as a gift tag and plastic bag. Show us what you've got!

Link up your creations by May 2 to be eligible for the prize!

Wednesday Challenge!

Hi Guys!  My turn for the Wednesday Challenge!

We hope you are enjoying these!

Time, is that always an issue for you?  It is for me! So this week let's try to do something SIMPLE!

I completed THIS layout in only too me 30 minutes and that is from START (no picture, no paper, etc, NOTHING picked!).

What made it so easy?  ONLY ONE PIECE of paper and embellishments!

And that is your challenge, not necessarily the 30 minute thing, but no matting, no layering (paper that is, you can still layer the embellishments!), not even a lot of journaling! You can ONLY USE ONE PIECE OF PAPER!!! I picked the picture, found a simple patterned paper that would go with the picture and then just found a few embellishments to add that matched in color.  Oh...and my 'journaling' it is a STICKER!  YEA!

Make sure you share with us your creation!

April Challenges--Michelle

Hey everyone!

It's my week to post a challenge, so here we go.

My challenge to you this month is to create a photo-less layout.

Yes, scrapbooking is mostly about documenting our stories through our photographs, but sometimes we don't have photographs to go along with the story we want to tell.

Rather than leave that story out, let's document it in a photo-less page.  Whether you forgot your camera that day, or decided to live in the moment and not worry about snapping photos, or want to record something about yourself as I did in my layout here:

Whatever your reason, let's see those picture-less pages!

Link up your creations in the sidebar linky by Wednesday, May 2nd.

Can't wait to see what you create!

January Challenges

Looking for some inspiration to kick off your creativity this year?  Here's what the DT and GDT is challenging you with this month:

Carla's Challenge:
I got this big flower in one the December kit, and the rest is from January Petite kit. I challenge you this month to use a flower (or flowers) as a mat for a photo.

Jules' Challenge:
This is a fun challenge...one we have done before but thought it would be a great time to do something like it again!
For this layout:

Image

I used a few things that really were meant for the trash! The 'sweetness - picture perfect' is ACTUALLY the name of the paper that I used! I saw it and thought instantly that would be a super title...well...it worked perfect! Also the little thing that I wrote their names on was cut out from the package that the larger embellishments came in! Just a mini picture of it!

So my challenge to you is to use something that you might consider 'trash' on your layout! (we are trying to save a few pennies from our Christmas shopping aren't we???)

Can't wait to see what you use! Look at how your embellishments come packaged (Prima is super for using their stuff!)....or even a tag off an article of clothing....ribbon from a package....I bet you have something!

Lee's Challenge:
Well I made this LO using the Jan. Petite Kit, so much fun to work with. I hope you were able to get a kit!

I love rub-ons and embossing, so for this months challenge, use at least 3 rub-ons on a LO and use one embossed embellie that you've embossed yourself. Have fun!!

Michelle's Challenge:
Recently many of you were discussing fancy papers and how hard it is to sometimes take the plunge and slice into these beauties. So my challenge for you this month is to get out one (or more) of those special papers you've been holding onto and create a LO about YOU! After all, who is more deserving of a LO made with beautiful, fancy papers than you!

Image

For an added bonus, create your YOU page about a hope, dream, goal, resolution (whatever you want to call it) for 2011. If you include all 3 of these things: fancy paper, photo of you, and journaling about your goal(s) for 2011, I will put your name in for a little RAK from me.

GDT Chris' Challenge:
This month I challenge to create a layout according to this recipe.
You must include these basic "ingredients" but are free to add your own Flavorings to the recipe :D

1 photo
3 patterned papers
3 flowers
Ribbon
Bling

Here is the layout I made using this recipe
Image

I added white card stock and letter stickers for extra flavoring.
Hope you'll share your takes on these challenges with us over at the forum!

November Challenges

The Design Team has cooked up some fun challenges for you this month to help you get your mojo on.

Guest Designer Heather's Challenge:
I've been trying to scrap out of my comfort zone recently and practice styles other than what I'm most comfortable with. With all the fun papers around recently I decided to do a whimsical fun page.
For this challenge break out the inner child and add some whimsy to your page. Here's my example

Image

Carla's Challenge:

My challenge this month is to scrap about a family tradition. Maybe is something special that you do for birthdays, or maybe a holiday event that you ALWAYS take part in.  My layout is about a Christmas tradition we do. The kids get a new ornament each Christmas Eve.

Jules' Challenge:
I like putting 'frames' around my photos but sometimes I get tired of the same ole thing...so I went a little 'out of the box' on this frame...
Lee's Challenge:
November is a BIG month for football around here and I was so inspired by that this month that I thought why not make a "sporting" LO. So here's what I came up with.

Image

Your challenge this month is to do a LO that features some sort of sporting or athletic activity.

This month I will be offering up small project created by me as a RAK for taking on this challenge (by random draw)! Have fun, I can't wait to see what you do with this!!

Michelle's Challenge:
My challenge to you this month is to
"Get Your Grunge On!"

Grunge is not a style I typically gravitate towards, but sometimes it's fun to try out something different. This month I want you to crumple, tear, ink, splatter, stitch, pierce, scratch, and mist your project to give it that old, grungy, lived in feel.

Have fun!

June Challenges

The Scrapbook Heaven forum is oozing with oodles of challenges from the DT and staff.  Jump start your scrapbooking this month with one of these:

Use alphabets as something other than the title or journaling
Use four different patterned papers (try to use different companies)

Dress up a simple LO with a handmade embellishment
Use a doily on your project: alter it if you'd like!
Recipe for lemonade: white background, some yellow, "sweet" in the title or journaling, some glitter or glimmer
Jules' June Challenge:
Use a black and white photograph
Ink or paint your background
Use at least 3 rub-ons on your project
So, there you have it.  Is your mojo flowing?!  What are you waiting for?  Get scrapping!

And when you make a project with these challenges, we'd love to see it.  You can link it up in the comments here, or hop over to the forum and post a pic under that challenge's thread.
