We have two exciting things to share with you today! First- a Guest Design Team Call. Here is all the info and you can always ask questions on The Forum.

We are looking for enthusiastic and talented crafters who would like to work with our kits.

As our guest designer you will play with our fabulous design team from December 2011 and January 2012, designing with our December and January Scrapbook Heaven kits, and join us in our monthly crops.

We are thrilled to announce our guest designer for October through December: Michelle Price.  Here's a bit about Michelle, in her own words:

Hi-I'm Michelle from Idaho. I'm a mother of 2 adorable kids.  I was introduced to card making by my future sis-in law when I was 20 and thought 'Boy-what an old lady thing to do" I humored her and tried it and have been going steady ever since. You know that crazy girl who spends every waking (and non-waking) moment scrapping or thinking of what will be scrapped next. She dresses her children in coordinating outfits if there is even a remote possibility that a picture will be taken? Yeah-I'M THAT GIRL! Currently I am loving very vintage papers and supplies. I love to try new products and scrap using sketches with my own twist added.

Welcome to Our March Guest Designer

First, we want to send a big shout out, "Thank You!" to Marcia for being such a super fab guest designer in February.  We all LOVEd Marcia's challenges for the Love, Love Me Do crop event, and she, as always, is super fun to chat with on the boards.  Thanks, Marcia.  We {heart} you!

Please help us welcome our March designer, Amanda!  Amanda has been around Scrapbook Heaven since last spring and always participates in the crop events and monthly challenges.  We are so excited to have you helping us out this month, Amanda!  Here's a little more about her {in her own words}:

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my wonderful husband, Shawn, and our energetic 120lb dog, Tucker. I am a physical therapist and have recently made the switch from working in the health care system over to private practice. It is a nice change and I am enjoying it very much.

I started scrapbooking just over four years ago, thanks to my dh! He thought it would be something I liked...I thought it sounded like a lot of work! I finally decided to give it a go and am so thankful I did! Now I can’t get enough. I love the shopping for supplies, taking photos, planning albums, the friends I have made as a result and most of all...preserving the precious memories I have of my family and friends.

I used to be very strict and organized with my scrapping when I began. I did every picture in exact chronological order and everything was clean lines and neat. Now I’m a bit all over the place and loving it! I am so excited to be GDT for this month!

February's Guest Designer

First, a HUMONGOUS thank you to Chris P for her work as Guest Designer in January.  Chris was an enormous help for us last month, in more ways than one.  She kept us all updated on the new lines being released at CHA, inspired us with her challenges for the crop event, and posted several sketches to help get our new year off to a scrappy great start!  So, from all of us at Scrapbook Heaven, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  You are AWESOME!

And now for our February GDT: Marcia Lippert (Marcia). If you've been on our boards, then you know Marcia!  She's been on the forum since August, 2009, and "prolific scrapper" is an understatement for her!  She completes every project (sometimes twice or more over) for every one of our events, takes on every monthly challenge, and never ceases to amaze us with her speedy scrapping skillz!

Here's a bit about Marcia from Marcia herself:

I live in Iowa with my sweet, supportive husband, John and my dog, Jesse. We have 2 grown children who are both married and also live in the same town that we do.

I've worked as a school nurse for the past 15 years and love all ages of children and teens.
I started scrapbooking a very long time ago. I had never considered myself an artist of any king until I started scrapbooking. The first crop that I went to was with my sister, who was in town for the weekend, so I blame this entire addiction on her!
 
My style used to be clean line, but it may be changing! I like to distress and lately have been reading and playing around with some Tim Holtz products.

January's Guest Designer!

The calendar has turned the page, and it's time to thank our December Guest Designer, Dana.  Dana, you were a fabulous source of inspiration during our December event, and loads of fun on the boards with your trivia questions!  Thanks so much for helping us throughout the month.

And now for January's GDT.  We are so excited to have Chris Pozzi (ChrisP) designing with us this month.  Chris has been an active member since the day she joined our forum a short while ago.  She has already loaded up the gallery with her inspiring creations.  Check out this sketch she created for us today:

Here's a bit about Chris:

My name is Chris Pozzi and I live in north central Illinois, also known as corn country! I am married to my high school sweetheart; Jim and we have 3 beautiful, active children. Meagan is 16 and involved in band and the high school dance/kick squad. Sarah is 13 and loves video games, softball and music. Alex is 7 and is a bundle of energy while enjoying baseball and video games! My kids are the subjects of most of my scrapping. I work full time for a County Health Department as a Division Supervisor. My kids and job consume a lot of my time so I am mostly a weekend scrapper. I have been scrapping since the birth of my Alex in 2003 and consider scrapbooking my creative outlet. My kids often join me in our scrap room which is basically my husband workbench in the basement that I have invaded. Right now I am buried in photos of 3 active kids and I am trying to scrap my way out. That being said, I scrap whatever photos inspire me at the moment. I love using sketches and changing them to fit my needs and photos. I am so excited to be selected as Guest Designer for Scrapbook Heaven. I found this site about 6 weeks ago it feels like home! There are so many wonderful people here.

And we feel like you've been part of our family forever, Chris!  Looking forward to a great month together.

December's GDT

With the turn of the calendar page, we say goodbye to Heather as our November Guest Designer.  Heather, you did an amazing job helping is with our card crop last month.  You have a style all your own and always inspiring.  Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us!

And now we give a happy hello to Dana Phillips.  Dana has been a member of Scrapbook Heaven for well over a year.  Despite her busy life as a homeschooling mom, she still finds time to inspire us with her creations.  Welcome to the team, Dana!

Hi, I'm Dana and I'm excited to be the GDT this month!


I am a chemist turned SAHM. I really loved my job, but we felt it was important for me to be home with the kids. David and I have been married 17 years and we homeschool our two children, Danae (10) and Dawson (8). We currently live in Mississippi, but I have lived all over the US and spent most of my childhood in Belize.


I've been scrapping since the end of 2000 when I completed about 75 layouts in a little over a month. Crazy, I know! But when the bug bit, it bit hard. Needless to say, I'm not nearly that productive now that my style is a little more refined. I am definitely a clean and simple scrapper and I make as many double page layouts as single pagers. A few years ago, I discovered card making and I love making a card or two from the leftovers of a layout. Although I don't have as much time to devote to this wonderful hobby as I would like, I think I will be scrapping for the rest of my life.

November Guest Designer: Heather Robertson!

The turn of the calendar page means we bid farewell to October's Guest Designer, Karen Ladd. Karen did an amazing job chatting in the forum, participating with her beautiful creations in October's Sketch Challenge crop, and supporting the Staff throughout the month. Karen it was a pleasure working with you!

And now we welcome November's Guest Designer, Heather Robertson (scrappin_in_AK). Heather is a constant source of inspiration and creativity on the boards and in the gallery here at Scrapbook Heaven. Here's a bit about Heather:

Hi - my name is Heather and I'm thrilled to be part of this amazing team this month.

I'm originally from Northern Ireland but now live in Alaska - both amazingly beautiful places. Dan and I have been married for 13 years and have two wonderful children (you may have seen them featured in a few of my pages - LOL!) Also part of our family are 3 cats (Meow, Deshka and Athena) and 2 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers (Kona and Willou)

I've been scrapping for approximately 8 years. I dabble a little in digi and a few years ago discovered cardmaking. My primary style is clean and graphic with bold colors and an emphasis on the photos. I really try to be a little different with my designs and try to break rules if I can.

My favorite techniques are probably stitching and using circles, although edge punches run a close third. I also love to mix as many manufacturers on one page as I can.

Outside of scrapping I love to take photographs, DIY, travel, reading, cooking, racquetball, kayaking and hiking.

October's Guest Designer: Karen Ladd!

We are so thrilled to introduce Karen as our October Guest Designer.  Karen joined Scrapbook Heaven in March of 2009.  She is a constant source of happy chatting, and always has something kind to say to everyone.  Karen gets us thinking with her questions about creativity and process.  And of course we never tire of stories of her new granddaughter!  You can view some of Karen's work here.

And here's what Karen has to say about herself:

 

I live in the Northern California Bay area and have been crafting pretty much most of my adult life. Have dabbled in cross-stitch, quilting, sewing, fabric crafts, soap-making, needle-point and finally settled into stamping and scrapbooking about 10 years ago. I love paper-crafts of all types and have 25 years worth of photos that I've been slowly scrapping. My favorite subjects are my family and pets but am trying to start photographing nature and everyday life. My husband and I ran a business for 20 years but now I work part-time as a reader and grader for his psychology classes, which gives me a nice flexible schedule. Scrapping and stamping give me a wonderful creative outlet and allow me to express myself with color and design, something that I miss if I can't hole up in my craft room on a regular basis. My scrapping style tends to be simple and I use a lot of cardstock, but my goal is to learn to mix patterned papers and loosen up a bit. This forum has been my biggest inspiration in terms of learning to use texture and new techniques on my layouts but I am always in the process of finding a style that suits me.

Guest Designers: A New Approach

Scrapbook Heaven is making some changes that we think you are going to enjoy! As of Oct. 1st, we have asked members from the forum to be our Guest DT for the month. We have seen over the past year that many of our members are very active in the forum and we want to reward them for their participation and sharing of their creative talents. We want members to take ownership of your forum! We want to build our forum from within and give everyone a chance to learn more about being a DT and how a forum works behind the scenes. Call it on-site training. We feel this is an excellent opportunity for all and we hope this change will bring about the kind of forum everyone wants to a part of.

Here's how it will work:

- The Guest DT term will run for one month.
- Only "active" forum members will be chosen for positions.
- Duties include (but not limited to) - posting QOTD, SQOTD and LOTD, starting Random Thoughts.

- One crop LO/Card for that month's events.
- One LO/project completed with product from the Scrapbook Heaven store (purchased with a gift certificate as compensation for your duties as our guest DT.

Members will be chosen based on chat totals, gallery uploads, crop participation and overall board presence.

For your continued support you will receive a gift certificate from the store, be featured on our blog and in our newsletter, and be acknowledged on our Facebook pages.

If you aren't already an active member on our site, it's not to late to join in the fun.  Stop by the forum, introduce yourself, get chatting, and play along with our challenges.  You just may be the next Guest Designer!

When did you start scrapping? I started scrapping about 4 years ago when a neighbor invited me to a Creative Memories party. I've been hooked since and it's become an obsession.

How would you describe your style? I tend to be more of an eclectic and funky scrapbooker. I love to mix companies and take unusual pictures.

What is your favorite manufacturer? You would think I'm addicted to all of them since I appear to collect them all but I have to say I lean towards 7 Gypsies.

What is your favorite embellishment? I love all of the Tim Holtz & 7 Gypsies goodies.

Have you ever been published? No I've never been published. I've only submitted once a few years ago.

What are your scrappy goals? My goal is only to continue enjoying this hobby and while doing so just preserve a glimpse of who I am and those I love.

When did you join Scrapbook Heaven? I joined about a year ago. I just started becoming active since I have my laptop.

What is your favorite part of scrapping? I love the creative process. Mixing and matching papers from different companies really gets my wheels turning.

Were you surprised to be chosen as the GDT? YES! I was ecstatic to be chosen. This is a first for me - so this will definitely be a memory to keep! Thank you for giving me this honor!
